If it can be demonstrated to be causing a problem at the A4 junction (which it is), then the Council can make that small section a no parking area. Further back on Sutton Court Rd it might be a nuisance but it wouldn't affect the A4 junction and therefore no action would be necessary. We had a similar problem on Chesterfield rd where cars were permitted to park right up to the junction of Sutton Court Rd and this was causing problems where people were unable to turn R onto SCR and oncoming traffic couldn't turn L onto Chesterfield Rd resulting in back ups. This has been completely solved by the Council painting yellow lines for the small stretch at the junctions. It would only need to be the stretch of SCR from Chesterfield Rd to the A4. I can see how people parking there wouldn't necessarily realise the problem it's causing and they are not doing anything illegal. The Council just need to be made aware that it is an issue and thoughts are needed about addressing that area so that the A4 doesn't continue to become obstructed. |
