A side note - the term "day" used in Genesis in the creation account - the hebrew word 'Yom' means "Day - daytime in contrast to night time - an indefinate period of time, an era within a certain characteristic.' So - although many Chistians believe in 6 day literal creation - the book of Genesis is NOT written to be an exact scientific text book that tells us detail in all areas of creation and how/why things happened that way. Genesis was written to show the created order of things. Thats why the first Words are 'In the beginning God...' If we get into are days literal 24 hours - or what about eveolution in the Bible - we will not find the answers in Genensis as it doesn't set out to tell us this. It would be like trying to read a copy of 'War and peace' to try and find out all about Noddy and Big Ears... |
