Amen to that Maddy... "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." However, that is not a culturally irrelevant statement - one that says society should back track to biblical times and regress.. Oh no... in context the verse say this: Read and learn... Hebrews was a letter written by the Apostle Paul to new Christians who were converted Jews - who were being persecuted, discriminated against and pressured by unconverted Jews to turn back to the Old Testament way of trying to be right with God - through the sacrificial process of the blood of bulls and goats. Paul telsls them to remember Jesus and stick to the teaching in the face of opposition. Why? Because the way o Jesus is FAR MORE effective than any other way. Paul says: "Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat." |
