I remember this from school - it's a common misconception that since we're all supposed to be descended from Adam and Eve, we're ONLY descended from them. In fact, the bible makes clear that Cain and Abel's wives are provided separately and that the lads therefore don't have to ask Mum to help them out. I don't think it mentions whether partners are also made for their offspring. Kind of academic given the level of make-believe involved in Genesis - Adam living to 930, no mention of dinosaurs or any other animal that had been knocking around for a few years before Adam, creating light before creating any source of light. I could go on... |
