I've been cycling in London for longer than you Rosi, and I can only agree with your experiences - Which are probably largely due to the unique interaction between buses and cyclists (constantly leapfrogging each other) and the fact that (until now) cyclists and M/Cs don't share the same road space and hence do not usually conflict. However, that makes no difference to the wierd results of the report and the reason for the delay in implementing what the DTel and others think are it's obvious benefits. You can see the opinions of the London Cycle Campaign on the issue here http://www.lcc.org.uk/index.asp?PageID=1145 and here http://www.lcc.org.uk/index.asp?PageID=874. There is also more in the latest copy of the London Cyclist. |
