The trouble is that many people regard this trial and report as flawed and the trial was too limited. Most of these people are cyclists and cycling groups who are quite unhappy with the proposal - now a reality. The report seems to show that when P2Ws are allowed to use bus lanes then cycle usage of the bus lanes increase. This is such a crazy conclusion that it alone shows there must be flaws in the trial. It also implies that collisions between P2Ws and cycles decrease - again an impossibility. TfL had not abandoned the idea but it seems a good idea to find explanations for these irrational results. Just reflect, if you are a novice cyclist trying to get used to cycling in London and already having difficulty coping with the buses - you are then scared out of your undies by someone on a huge M/C blattering past inches away. This doesn't bother me any longer but I understand why many people go home and chuck their bike in the shed - for ever. |
