I bow to Mark which may expose my ass to Paul. Sorry about that. But what Paul - or should I say Campy - neglects to mention is the rise of Uber and deliveries in general. He always does. The only villain to him is the personal driver. As if they are the only vehicles on the roads. I wonder what would happen if, for a day, Chiswick simply banned deliveries. On a pragmatic level surely not doable, but on a theoretical level interesting to posit and study. For sure it would mean quieter streets without the noisy sirens blaring when delivery trucks reverse outside your bedroom window while your neighbor gets their veg at 5am. Quiet streets are a goal, isn't that right Paul? Somewhere there is data on number of deliveries made within W4. Then reverse engineer that to find the main culprits (sorry Amazon) and see what happens if they simple don't occur. I'd imagine it would be great for local businesses. You are concerned about local traders Paul, are you not? |
