| It is a good opinion piece Tom. Thanks for sharing. This quote immediately preceding the one you selected also stands out. "Political leadership is about telling it as it is, not pretending it is all painless." There are people on the Cabinet at Hounslow and other Boroughs like Islington, Hackney, Lambeth in addition to the Mayor who have taken a lot of flak for telling it how it is: that our use of cars is not sustainable in London; that we must reduce it in order to improve air quality and reduce emissions; that that means the minority of people in London who own cars putting up with some inconvenience, paying more, changing their habits. History will look kindly on the politicians who showed leadership. |
