Long title- sorry. I looked up the CO2 emissions/km of the model of one of the cars mentioned in this thread, and it’s staggering how much variation there is on what cars emit. Cars are essential to some, but to some others they are simply a luxury. Plenty of high CO2 emitting large cars and SUVs in the Car Park of a nearby health club last time I was there. Why are Hammersmith, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea the three areas in the UK with the highest numbers of SUVs? Because they need them? Don’t think so. Do the drivers of these cars realise how much CO2 they put out compared to smaller cars? Don’t know? Do some of them care? Should we penalise the drivera of these cars, to get them to pay for the cost of the damage they are doing? The slightly higher level of Road Excise Duty isn’t doing the trick. |
