Although we in Ealing did vote against the LTNs but Ealing Council are doing their best to ignore us and keep them in place. After the consultation the government put out guidelines about what the consultations on LTNs should look like. Ealing Council are now trying to say that the consultation won't stand because they didn't meet the guidelines and blaming the government for it. You couldn't make it up. God forbit Ealing should concern themselves with details like (a) they're only guidelines so don't need to be followed and (b) the guidelines came out after the consultation had already been done. They're discussing it at the council meeting this month. My money is on them not removing them, doing another consultation and skewing it in favour of the way they want it to go. Ealing Council have shown nothing but contempt for the people who pay their wages for years now. Power corrupts and all that. Vote them out next opportunity. They need to go. |
