I'm no pollution scientist but don't big long lines of motor vehicles with their engines on but not moving generate pollution? This is what is happening at the moment to a degree that didn't happen before. I walk my dog almost daily on Acton Green. As a contact lens wearer I can detect higher levels of pollution and it is definitely worse than it was. As for the nonsense about this being about trips to the shops - please stop with that. Generally I walk as most people in the area do but when Fisher's Lane was open I would occasionally use it to cut through to the rear entrance to the Sainsbury's car park which is little used. When Turnham Green Terrace was closed and it was impossible most of the time to get to the Sainsbury's car park by the Acton Lane entrance without a substantial wait in a traffic queue someone on this forum suggested shopping in Acton. Having found easy access free parking and prices well below those in Chiswick I'm not switching back even if they did open Fishers Lane. It may be further to drive but it is worth it. |
