Better access is needed for very many people. This isn't just cars -v- cycles. There are many streets which have become car parks and it is difficult for people to cross them and deliveries to be made and tradesmen and carers and District Nurses etc to find parking. There are buildings - some new - with nowhere for people providing vital visiting services to park. It would be much better if we shared cars more instead of everybody trying to have, park and drive their own. These pop up extended pavements can be moved. I've seen spaces made in them. Instead of such a knee-jerk negative reaction to any change from the status quo it would much more sensible to make constructive and sensible suggestions. It was very disappointing that a lot of good changes made for the Olympics creating greater accessibility for all disappeared once the Olympics were over. |
