Yes - I'm sure they asked for my address as part of the security check, but would have it anyway on their screen. It's just an illustration of how local knowledge helps. Experience also helps. When Dell were trying to sell me a larger hard drive than I needed they could only say they recommended 60GB for digital photography. When I asked how many photos I could store on 40GB they thought about a hundred. They obviously did not have the information and obviously never used (or knew anyone who did use) a digital camera. The person was helpful but with limited training and experience of products widely used in England of limited use. |
