We have been campaigning for this for 35 years in my own personal memory. It takes 1.5 minutes to stop at TG, hardly an inconvenience when you consider how long it regularly sits at Acton Town to 'smooth out the service'. When I first came to Chiswick in 1975 the PL stopped at TG through the the day at weekends and before 7.30am and after 8.30pm during weekdays. What do we have now? A massive increase in passenger traffic since the business park opened and the large number of flat developments yet no tube frequency improvement The excuses we have had over the years have include signalling issues, (but surely in the last 35 years this could have been addressed and if I recall correctly has been promised on numerous occasions - and in any event if the platforms are suitable and the signals effective before 6.30am and 10.30pm there should be no problem), old train stock, lack of staff, and more latterly the increase of users at TG which would make an interchange there difficult because the PL is so full. The last response I received was that all the PL users beyond TG were asked if they would support the stop and they voted against it! Staggering. I rest my case. There is no political will. |
