Alison, don't think it is valid to compare the short-term inconvenience of a broken ankle with the experience of someone who has to permanently live with disability. Everyone is now aware that Turnham Green isn't a main station thanks to your reminders. TfL rank public transport links using a PTAL score which shows how good the service is from a particular location. They probably have a similar scoring system weighted for accessibility to determine which stations are priorities for improvement. Given that Turnham Green doesn't have any other accessible stations within walking distance whereas many of the busier stations do, it may be that Turnham Green is closer to warranting lifts than might initially seem the case. It might be worth doing an FoI request on how TfL rank stations in terms of priority for accessibility improvements. In addition the entries to the station are likely to rise - Gunnersbury is going to see more and more queueing for busy times and when it starts getting a full Piccadilly line service usage at the station will rise significantly. |
