At the CAF meeting the other day, a couple of councillors rather scoffed at the idea that it might be possible to count accurately which cars belong to residents, and which belong to non-residents. But of course, most cars are registered to the keepers address, so it is possible to collect this data (car park firms do it, they just write to the DVLC and ask for the name and address of the keeper of this registration number, so of course it can be done). If we really wanted to understand the real situation, we would have been collecting data since 2011. But LBH have refused point blank to do this, much better just to make these decisions based on vague theory and opinion. As Councillor Lynch said - we could do the research, but it would simply be an expensive waste of resources. |
