Hi Sean. Let's look at your post. "the Park and Staveley Road CPZ trial has been a success" Can you define success? What was the 2-road CPZ supposed to do (do you know)? How was it measured? What was the situation before and after? Or do you just mean that residents in Park / Staveley Road are delighted that there are so many empty spaces in their road now? And all the cars have been displaced into neighbouring roads? Is that what the CPZ was designed to do? (no it wasn't). "...this is ONLY 2 HOURS A DAY monday to friday. not 24 hours 7 days a week" So what? the displacement effect is the same either way. Makes no difference. What is the point you are making? "What the scheme has done is eliminate the long term holiday parkers and vans parked for months on end..." You have precisely zero evidence for this. No cars were ever counted. Nobody ever logged these cars and vans "parked for months on end". Nobody ever did any research. These are just your opinions, others disagree with you. "...and freed up spaces for residents." 72% of Park Road residents have their own driveways. They do not need to park on the road and they never did. "...The shops and businesses on Station Parade were very concerned that the scheme would affect them..." Aren't you just making this up? Where is the study showing what the shopkeepers (I guess you mean Ravi?) thought about it? When I asked Ravi back in 2012 what his views were he told me he wouldn't dare talk about CPZ to anyone as he would most likely cause trouble. So when did he give you all this feedback? Where can we see it? How do you know what the shopkeepers think? "...but they are now agreed that if anything the easier parking makes it easier for people to use their services...." As above, how on earth do you know all this? Wo is agred? What are they agreed on? What were they asked? When were they asked? Where can we see this consultation document? "If anything the roads are safer particularly at junctions where people used to park dangerously...." Yo have no evidence at all for this. Zero. The only evidence about safety is from the LBH traffic study which proved that Park Road was one of the safest roads in W4 before CPZ and that CPZ could only make it less safe. So please share your alternative traffic study which shows the opposite conclusion so we can all understand where you are getting your data about cars parking on corners and so on. When was all this research carried out? Why has it never been presented to anyone? "..At peak times roads are free of traffic trawling incessantly up and down trying to squeeze into the tiniest of spaces and parking badly and unsafely..." When was this research carried out? Or is it just another anecdote to support your own viewpoint? If you have data, please share it. If you don't, then it's just your opinion - and other disagree with you, so it gets us nowhere. "...My post is merely to say 2 hours a day with restricted parking really can solve a lot of problems for the whole of Grove Park. ..." What problems? And how will it solve them? And how do you know? What research has been carried out? Do you get my point? |
