I think a fair proportion of UKIP voters are 'BNP-lite' - they pretty much agree that the problem with this country is the blacks, the asians and the Gypsies from Albania and Romania. They are now at liberty to vote for a party which disguises prejudice in the language of anti-Europeanism, whilst its upper echelons are still populated by bigots. A vote for UKIP isn't a vote against the political elite, or a vote against federalism. It's a vote for a party who have no domestic policies, and have at their heart nothing but suspicion and intolerance of anyone who isn't white straight, and male. |
