Commentators in the newspapers over the weekend all seem to agree that tax rises are inevitable if Labour wins the General Election. Some have suggested £8 billion, some have suggested £10 billion. It may well be more as Government spending and waste continues to soar. In contrast, the Conservatives have identified £35 billion in cost savings which will enable a Conservative Governmemt to spend more than Labour on Health, Education, International Development and Defense, pay back £8 billion of the national debt and reduce taxation by £4 billion. |
