| I attended most of the meeting. I was actually encouraged to see more of a genuine and robust process unfold, with participation from a range of parties and less of the whipped pre determined process. Or that’s what it seemed, It’s so apparent what a mess this all is. The CIC can only make money if they get guaranteed loads of noisy concerts for years and years and they might make a little bit of money to fix up a bit of the park, but it’s so risky and we have very little idea of how much. Music gigs and festivals are so tough to run, and Live Nation will probably get most of the profit. But in the meantime, they will have damaged the Park even more and created misery for thousands of residents who just want to enjoy their park and their summer weekends in peace. . And the officers seemed poorly briefed on everything from noise levels to the business case. And there are a lot of competing venues with a lot more going for them. Like infrastructure, toilets, decent access. I felt sad for everybody really and wish they could find a way out of it all. I’m relieved to live just over a mile away but we still often hear the noise. |
