| The problem with digital, (as somebody who ran an tech based business), is the inability or refusal of most organisations to employ a proper back up of people to reply to queries linked to sufficient technical back up of what may be a buggy system. So many companies and government bodies just fire, deskill or outsource the staff or simply don't know how to manage them well. So queries go unanswered, or not understood, not believed or trivialised. If you want to object to a planning application in Hounslow Council, its become virtually impossible - it's error messages all the way, and if the issue is raised at senior level, they blame user incompetence! There is nobody there in the system to work through and identify and fully solve the issue. And the faults in the system may be too expensive to solve. The long term repercussions of all this are all pretty serious. The Post Office scandal was just an extreme example of widespread issues. |
