Saw on the BBC this morning that HMRC are going digital, I really pity anyone who has to deal with that, as tech and government departments rarely go together. I received notification to renew my driving licence way back in early November, so I filled in the online renewal form, since then - nothing. However, when I went on to the DVLA site to try and contact them the e-mail given didn't work with my contact bouncing back. O.K. I thought I'll ring them, the wait - I was told by some remote voice would be an hour and a half! But, on the good side I could converse in Welsh if required. So, having checked, my licence has not been renewed according to DVLA's website, although online it should take just a week! I have now resorted to mail to try and locate the living, so much for technology then. Tax is far more important - so let's hope that their system has been well tested, otherwise - stock up on stamps would be my advice. |
