I think it's a lot to do with the greedy commercial property owners who demand rents far beyond anything where common sense was a good choice of words, but obviously not in the commercial property rental business. Several years ago, the Spelt Bread shop was paying 100k per year in rent for a really little shop/premise. Why businesses chose to come to Chiswick knowing the extortionate rents that would ruin any profits in the first week of opening. Legislation is needed surely, to curb these money grabbing commercial property owners. |
