I was in the Bollo Lane/Stirling Road vicinity recently for the first time in a long time. What reason is there to go now that the tip has closed? The amount of construction going on there is jaw-dropping and the biggest project - the TfL one with Bollo Brook House is still to come. It does seem to me that, if everything gets built it won't be a particularly attractive place to live. No real commercial centre, very few community buildings, no parking space and the prospect that one day the level crossings may be closed making it very inaccessible. Thousands of people are going to be moving in there but, in the current environment, I can't see sales of flats being easy and rents will rule a lot of people out. It was therefore interesting to see the news item about the change of plan for the Chiswick Auctions site and I suspect this will be the start of a trend. You can cram far more student flats into these towers and South Acton is a much nicer place to live than North Acton. |
