Sue Rowe Research needed, I think you're wrong here's the story This year is the 75th anniversary of the Foundation of the National Health and Welfare State and the pension system national insurance contributions My late parents were sold this on the understanding that their contributions would pay for their health and social care in their old age. The generation above them did not receive healthcare or pensions in any shape or form. So it's quite simple their contributions were for their own welfare not for me If you'd care to research the original literature will be in the British library outlining the scheme and the promises Of course we now know that that money was not ring fenced and went into general taxation pot so paid for lots of other stuff like defence etc Tony Blair's government played a massive con trick on the younger generation when they persuaded them that they were paying for the older generation. That was the time when many were persuaded to do degree courses to become plumbers and social media experts etc!! |
