| This is an admission of extreme carelessness but I hope it may help prevent further loss. 3 weeks ago I bought a great bike from Action bikes on the high road. It was expensive but I loved the bike and it rekindled my interest in cycling. Action told me that the combination cable lock that I had was somewhat vulnerable and that I should not rely upon it in unmonitored situations. Today I cycled to the Alley Chinese restaurant for lunch, I cabled the bike to a rack 10 yards away from the window where I was sitting and periodically looking up to watch the bike. You can guess what transpired - at one point I looked up and the bike was gone. No noise no fuss no bike ! Action told me that there are a lot of bike thefts happening now. I have ordered a replacement but with a D lock that only an angle grinder can disable. |
