| Hi Claire, I didn't mention "tiny little saplings" or even saplings. In fact, while away for the weekend I had an interesting and helpful discussion last night with a friend and her husband, both of whom were town planners in mixed authorities (urban and rural), about the importance of replacing mature trees with mature trees and how to achieve it. I don't know if I'd have had the same discussion, from the same angle (positive - let's find a way - rather than negative - it's too hard/expensive to achieve) in Hounslow council but it has confirmed my general view that what we've always done is not how we have to do things now. My colleagues know I'm not hidebound. As for fighting against the absurd proposal to sacrifice the High Road pavement (which is for walking) to CS9, and the risks to businesses along the south side of the High Road, I've been extremely vocal on that and will continue to be. We must improve cycling infrastructure within Chiswick but it must be done with sensitivity, recognising the value we locals put on Chiswick's character, culture and community and our lifestyle.
