| It isn't just trees. There are plenty of shrubs which are now being cut back ie "shaved/hedge-trimmed" just to tick a box several times a year. This is despite the fact that they should be pruned at different times as they flower at different times and set their flowers for the following year at different times. So we see flowering shrubs that don't get to flower and become top heavy with bare lower branches - all for the sake of economy. They don't give the same enjoyment, they don't provide the bees and other insects with nectar and we are creating a reduced diversity of planting just for our convenience. |
