But what is a 'non-physical job'? Standing on a crowded underground train at 66 (and don't bet on anyone offering you their seat) at 8 am and the same back at 6.30 pm and dealing with office issues can be very tiring even for someone 20 years younger. And that is if someone will offer you a job - given our extremely youth-orientated culture, increasingly unlikely. So there will be lots of people in their sixties who can't draw much if anything from welfare, because they probably have assets/savings of more than a few thousand pounds, but who won't get any pension until they are 66. Great for the government - much cheaper - but pretty grim for people in their sixties. Not a prospect I relish. |
