"With this lot in power, I think most people can look forward to working until at least 70" Good, i hope they do continue to move the pension age up as it is way out of whack with reality. There is no reason why people in non-physical jobs shouldn't work to 70. The pension ages of 65 for men and 60 for women harked back to an era when people didn't live much beyond 70, now the average age is into the 80s. I also know plenty of people who have continued working through choice, beyond their retirement age and are therefore lucky enough to be drawing a pension and a salary from their company at the same time. The government adjusting the pension age upwards has been well overdue. |
