Susan, Sorry I didn't make myself clear, the pension ages I put were the forecast retirement age my wife could retire at Martin, you are absolutely right.People that sit on their arse all day and press the odd button now and then can certainly work until they are 80.However how many people of that age have that sort of job.The people coming up to retirement age now are the tail end of the manufacturing age.People that have done heavy manual work all their lives.Are you suggesting a docker would be fine to carry on working into their late 70's ? Or how about a miner that's been down the pits since the age of 14.Are you seriously suggesting that they should carry on working ? And don't forget without these people working now, you wouldn't have a pension.Don't punish the people that have worked hard for their pension.By all means bring in a later retirement age, but leave it another 20 years until all the manual workers have died. |
