Indian Zing in Chiswick is better than any Indian in Chiswick. Although I haven't been for a while, I would say Anarkali in Hammersmith is better than anything in Chiswick as well. Same goes for Japanese; Tosa and Yoshisushi in Hammersmith are better than the single Japanese in Chiswick and for Vietnamese, Saigon Saigon in Hammersmith is also good. Lola & Simon is an excellent neighbourhood restaurants. I can't really think of an equivalent in Chiswick other than maybe Annies, except the food in L&S is better than Annies. For gastro-pubs, Carpenters Arms, Anglesea Arms, Dartmouth Arms (owned by the same people as the Swan in Chiswick) are all good. In Chiswick, I would say there are a few top-end restaurants (High Road House, Le Vacherin, La Trompette, what used to be Fish Hook), a vast swathe of chain restaurants (Zizzis, GBK, Giraffe etc. etc. etc.) most of which are perfectly fine, but there is a shortage of distinctive local places and it is good to have even more choice just down the road in W6. |
