"I do not support any political party." Oh, yeah. There's far too much detail there for an employed person like me and I simply do not have the time to answer every comment. But let's take the 10p tax issue as an example. You forget to mention that it was Gordon Brown who actually BROUGHT THE 10P TAX RATE IN IN THE FIRST PLACE - back in 2000, I think it was. Didn't the Tories oppose it? And wasn't it a temporary measure whilst other redistributive policies (e.g. working families tax credits) were being rolled out and taking effect? I remember a your Tory telling me that I, as a low income person, would be WORSE OFF under the new 10p tax band. I didn't understand his logic then and I still don't now. Suffice to say I believe that I benefitted from the eight years in which it was operative. The bottom line is that the cake is only so large. All the Tories will do is divide it differently. You simply do not get something for nothing, so much of the detail of your posting is purely academic. So a raid was made on the pension fund. I have a private pension, so clearly that has consequences for me. But the money taken was invested in public services - so if I'm ever in discomfort needing a hip operation I know that under this government my operation will be sooner rather than later. No doubt this will not be a factor in the minds of those who can afford private health treatment. Sorry, but it calls come back to the same thing: it's the haves versus the have nots. |
