I suppose it is too much to expect a silly Socialist Merchant Banker like you to read the history books and find out just what a mess the Wilson/Callaghan governments left this country in in 1979 ? It was the fact that the electorate didn't have short memories that kept Labour out of office for the next eighteen years, until a bunch of youngsters like you grew up who couldn't remember how bad things were in the Winter of Discontent. Gordon Bean inherited the most favourable economic situation any incoming Chancellor had had for many years in 1997 - and proceeded to fritter it away. And I sure as hell ain't your chum. |
