Alarmism about the bridge probably serves H&F Council now while they are bidding for funding to restore it but there is no reason for them not to incorporate the restoration of blue light services and possibly light buses into the plan for the next four years. An ambulance weighs about the same as 50 people and there are easily double that on the bridge on a sunny day at the weekend. I appreciate there are differences in the weight of the vehicle being concentrated and it generating more energy because it moves faster, but logically if a single ambulance could compromise the bridge then the number of people crossing on foot would need to be monitored and controlled. |
