| One of the affects of Farage's speech may be that it will put the people smuggling gangs who organise the boat crossings on notice that the years of plenty may be coming to an end so they couLd up their game and send even more people per week. This will possibly force Starmer's hand into actually doing something effective about the whole sorry mess. Both the Tory and Labour parties alike have to bear most of the blame for people feeling backed into a corner about this. There would be no need for a Reform party if we had an effective and focused political culture that actually paid attention to how its public felt.It was exactly the same situation with Brexit, successive governments keeping their fingers crossed living in denial.Almost twice the number of people who voted Labour last year voted for Brexit. |
