I ride. I drive. I walk. Being able to do all affords convenience needed to maximise my use of local traders. Maybe, we get the local shops to validate discount parking (but for a max 60 mins or so) as they process customers. Non shoppers pay (already existing) inflated parking costs, and people are encouraged to shop local. Perhaps, even going a step further, rather than parking being paid for during key commute times, it's banned unless you get validated by critical services such as clinics, chemist's etc.....you can still drive to Mackens, but just not when cyclists, busses and other commuters are going to work.
Its a crammed city, we all want to be here and we all want it to be be a nice, friendly, diverse place. We're never going to not get on each others nerves, but at least we can be safe and sound while we complain as we get on the train, bus, bike or footpath, but only if we still have them and the convenience they afford the difference folks we live amongst. |
