This will effectively be a done deal. The developers will have been discussing this with TfL and Ealing Council for at least a couple of years, getting advice and guidance from people who really should be looking out for the people who already live in the area. Be under no illusion that this scheme doesn’t fit in with Ealing Council’s housing policy. It currently wants to see huge towers going up all over the borough, many in highly inappropriate locations. Social housing is non existent and developers profits are paramount, look at the proposals for Gurnell Leisure Centre if you don’t believe me: http://savegurnell.org.uk/latest-update.html# It’s all dressed up as being the ‘answer to the housing crisis’, but these developments aren’t for people who genuinely need homes. Many developments end up as ghost towns with swathes of unoccupied properties. Not least among the issues is the lack of detail about services such as GP provision and other services. Where will all these people go if no new surgery is provided? It will just increase waiting times for existing patients. This is a pattern repeated across Ealing and it’s one the Council simply ignores. |
