'some logistics would need to be sorted of course.' Isn't that a bit of an understatement? As a first pass how would you suggest some of the issues raised could possibly be resolved. 'Don't agree with businesses though. Whole point of parking 200 yards away is that you pass and more shops and spend more time in the area. That isn't me saying that but countless surveys.' Think you have missed my point about parking. I don't think closing the High Road would have much impact because most people would still be able to park. Many would use Sainsbury's and the 200 yards they would have to walk would be from the resident parking zones. On the general point on removing parking being good for local businesses whatever surveys say people will always need to drive to buy things that are too heavy to carry any distance. A business may benefit that doesn't sell anything of this nature but any that does will see a sharp fall in takings. 'People seem to assume there would be the same amount of traffic but in the side streets. I don't believe their would even be half the amount in the area.' Hard to predict but there will be the same number of bus journeys so even if the number of journeys from other vehicles fell by more than half you would still get gridlock. 'I don't work for TfL either.' You said previously that you did and when we've chatted in the past I've always worked under that assumption. Your level of knowledge seemed to confirm it. Apologies for the error. |
