It is not just the physical space, although in Europe we have more issues with that than most. It is educational, cultural and ability to work issues of the people we take in that will stretch our societies the most. How will those issues be sorted? That takes a lot of very expensive skills which need to be paid for andthe governments of the countries that take them in assessing which can contribute immediately to society (few) which will need medical and mental issues care, housing, benefits for those who can't work - and that will be likely many in the short term at least - and how the sheer numbers, ability to work, medical care, educational issues, pressure on utilities and housing and cultural integration are all going to be sorted. I am not saying we shouldn't take some in but we can't take everyone and if they are not able to contribute to the country financially as per the existing threshholds then we have to sort out those who are in most need of help. Which is not necessarily young people able to scale barbed wire fences. |
