| Insist on seeing the plans and look at where they want the light wells. One of my neighbours wanted to build a basement and me and the neighbours on the other side objected to the light wells, which would have been at the front of the house and in the side passage, rendering it unusable. In fact they withdrew the plans in the end because they moved back to the US, so I don't know if this ploy worked or not. Someone down the road from me is currently building a huge basement that goes to within 6 feet as far as I can see of their back garden wall, this is a basement and ground floor extension. All for a Ping pong table. Can't imagine how or why they got planning permission. As you say, if you want a bigger house, move. |
