Resurfacing works were supposed to be taking place 24th - 29th May in Linden Gardens and parking suspension was put in place. All the residents subsequently moved their cars to other streets (some feat, as they were already at full capacity). Works duly commenced on 24th with the entire the road surface of Linden Gardens being dug up, a leak was apparently found (a contractor told me a crack in a sewerage pipe), so all works stopped while Thames Water fixed the leak. Since then, all works have ceased. No contractors, no machinery - nothing. The refuse and recycling lorries have not come as the street is still officially closed off (although there is nothing to stop them except for a few raised ironworks), so the street is now piled up with uncollected bin bags of rubbish and recycling boxes and bags, and there are now huge rats (from the broken sewerage pipe?) scurrying around mine and my neighbours' gardens trying to get into the house.
Other neighbours have tried calling the council, but have been held in "23rd place in the queue" and are finding it impossible to get any answers. Meanwhile I can't use my car, as if I give up my space, I doubt I'll find another with so many displaced cars. Does anyone else know what is going on? There seems to be no end in sight and the rubbish/rats/parking issue is getting beyond a joke (rant over). |
