Yes Will, it was Illston on the Hill. It was 1995 - 1997 I think, and Landlord's name was George. Do you remember the huge Walrus Tusks on the wall by the bar? I think it was Everards by then, I recall George telling me that they had sold most of their houses but the son liked the F&G so much they decided to keep it and maintain it as it had always been. I used to live in Carlton Curlieu Manor House, and the F&G was a 30 minute walk across the fields (or a 10 minute ve-e-ery wobbly drive). The other nearby pub was the Bell at Burton Overy. Occasionally would see Englebert or Willie Thorne having a pint in there. Happy days. |
