Argentina won't undertake a serious charm offensive while the Falklands are able to serve their politicos as a diversion from their shambolic economy. If they encouraged links so that Falklanders could readily visit Argentina for shopping trips, medical attention and the occasional football match then the Falklanders might eventually agree to a change of status; if they were really serious about taking over the islands then they would be following that path, but there is little sign of them doing so. |
