“Dan, you do have a tendency to treat anybody who disagrees with you as a mortal enemy.” Gosh you doggie lovers are a sensitive bunch of petals. Mortal enemy? Just highlighting a simple, sensible suggestion? “Your statistic that there is 50,000 tons of dog crap (and growing) seems to me a made up one.” Actually you’re right, I got it wrong. It’s not 50,000 tons a year, it’s 350,000 tons a year (1,000 tons per day). Here's a short list of published statistics for you. But perhaps these are also made up, or just the work of worthless pissed-off hacks. Perhaps anything that might lead to greater controls over dogs is just made up. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2518428/Tell-left-dog-mess-75-fine-reward-Council-launches-scheme-target-inconsiderate-pet-owners.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22853270 http://www.theguardian.com/news/blog/2009/feb/11/dog-fouling-britain http://kb.keepbritaintidy.org/dogs/publications/guidedog.pdf http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/22905640 I would suggest that the reason many sports parks are experiencing less dog crap than in previous years is that many local authorities are banning dogs from where people play sport. Quite rightly. |
