Bet I know the vet who had the hissy fit, Louise :)
But Charlotte was incorrect in a few points, including the fact that vet meds do vary widely as each vet puts their own mark up on; I once compared some meds I needed for my dog from three different local vets and Medivet was almost twice the price of what Richmond Vets charged for exactly the same thing, and Young's was even slightly less than that; and also that Petcare is the only vet I have ever known who charges for an initial chat, to see if they are the right vet for you, not with respect to any particular animal. Contrary to what Charlotte says, most lawyers give you around half an hour free of charge to decide whether you want to put your business with them, I give presentations for free as do many professionals looking to win a new client, and I would not go to a vet who did not allow me to talk through their views on various issues (not related to a specific cat), the equipment and anaesthesia they use, and their policies. Which is why, apart from the cost and a few other things, I have not placed any of my most recently acquired animals there. |
