| Michael, once again you set up a straw man to knock him down. The issue here is not that Chiswick station doesn't have step free access but that the whole of Chiswick is without an accessible station. At the moment from Chiswick station if you wanted to get to Westminster without using steps, your choice would be to get the E3 to Acton Town or get the same bus to the High Road and catch a bus to Hammersmith. This would add about 40 minutes journey time each way if clear and up to an hour if there is traffic which there will be if you need to travel at rush hour. That additional journey time would be halved if either Turnham Green or Gunnersbury were step free. What this means is that public transport use is totally impractical for a significant proportion of the population of the area in which we live. |
