You are making too many assumption with too little information Jeremy. I took a quick scan of the plans and the developer was proposing to provide car parking in the basement with a 3 level car stacker. Doing my own speculation, if the reduction of car spaces means the developer could reduce this to, for example, 2 levels, then this could be quite a bit of cost and complexity saved both for construction and ongoing maintenance. I don't know if the depth of the basement was determined by the depth needed for the car parking or it needed to be that depth anyway for foundations, but if they need to dig out and fit out less space underground, that is potentially huge cost savings for the developer. |
