I completely disagree with you! What a negative post. It gives everybody so much more of an incentive to rethink how they are travelling to schools. It also may mean that they will club together with other parents escort children instead of all individually racing from one school to another. It isn't always just up to the parents either. It is so much better to have a quieter car free area around schools during drop off and pick up times. There are so many children moving around that it is quite worrying. I had to drive someone to a hospital appointment at the beginning of the school day and there were children everywhere chatting to each other and walking fast and running three abreast as they hurried and poured into school. There was so much movement in all directions at the same time that it was quite unnerving. I'd certainly put everyone's safety way ahead of perceived eyesores! I've seen triangular wrap around posters detailing the restrictions on existing poles on streets to alert drivers of a new school street. |
