| Another factor behind the use of ANPR cameras in Grove Park was to allow exemptions for registered residents. As well as adding to the complexity of the scheme, many felt this added to the confusion, as it would be tempting to unwittingly follow such a vehicle through the restriction. It also created a virtual ‘gated community’ into which some privileged traffic was still allowed, thus diluting the intended traffic reducing safety features. As others have suggested, it would be helpful to visually reinforce the restrictions in Hartington Road with some physical chicane, and also to locate the signs where it’s possible to safely take an alternative route to avoid them. |
